The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads Prosperity To All Nations Ocean intersea Columbia conunguniur and the reverse text is Commemorating the opening of the Panama Canal to the commerce of the World, this medal copyrighted and bearing a serial number is one of 50000 carried on the vessel making the first passage through the Panama Canal as authenticated in certificate signed by Chief Engineer and Chairman 15thmian Canal Commission. The front side of the coin shows a large angel figure in the center with wings spread and two globes to either side, a banner over the top of the coin and earth below. The backside of the coin depicts a seal to the top side of the coin with the serial number at the bottom edge, a series of writing appears in the center of the coin in small letters, difficult to make out.
