The obverse text on this So-Called Dollar reads The centennial year of our National Independence 1876 and the reverse text is Battle of Sullivan’s Island June 28 1776 2 So. Carolina. The front side of the coin shows the bust of President and General George Washington in the center surrounded by thirty four stars and text, date below the neck. The backside of the coin depicts a circle in the center with rays coming from it, date inside the circle, text surrounding and an oak wreath to the outer edge.
