While most survivors are liberally abraded, high grade pieces tend to show excellent luster in either a satin or frosty texture that greatly enhances the eye appeal. The 1884-CC ranks among the more readily obtainable Carson City Mint double eagles with examples plentiful in circulated grades from VF to AU. Uncirculated coins though MS-62 are also plentiful by the standards of the issuing mint. A handful of MS-63s represent the finest certified for this issue at the major third-party grading services.
