History, Information, and Value of 1911 St. Gaudens $20 Gold

Value of 1911 St. Gaudens $20 Gold

The typical 1911 St. Gaudens is sharply struck with only average luster that is frosty and often slightly granular. Most Uncirculated coins are liberally abraded.
Like the 1909, the 1911 is scarce, yet obtainable in lower Mint State grades through MS-64. It is rare as a Gem and extremely rare in Superb Gem MS-67 with no coins graded higher at either PCGS or NGC. This year saw the Mint return to the Sand Blast Proof type for the Saint-Gaudens double eagle. With less than half of the mintage extant, the 1911 is rare in this format.
