Value of 1720 John Law Medal

This medal warns against the convincing verbiage of John Law. Obverse of this medal depicts a windmill on a post. John Law, his head seen near the right, verbally pushes the windmill whose arms have horns of plenty attached to the end. Counter-clockwise, from the horns come bank notes and billets, rings and jewels, certificates of stock marked “Actien”, and lastly coins, some of which have wings. This depicts the sly words of John Law as he deceived many and pocketed the gain. Below the image is the date, 1720. Reverse is merely written, “Come, behold the people of France. Mr. Law doeth great things. Behold, the renowned Law, by usury of gain, gives great wealth. 1720”
