Obverse of this medal features Louis XVI, facing to the right wearing a coat, cravat, and his wig tied back with a ribbon. The legend reads, “Louis XVI, Most Christian King.” The artist’s signature, located under the truncation, reads Duviv. The reverse displays a slave, wearing only a cloth around his waist. He carries a shovel and walks among bales and barrels while sowing tobacco. The legend translates, “Company of French Guiana.” In the distance are ships and men carrying the wares to the ships.
