As one of the more frequently encountered Carson City Mint double eagles, the 1883-CC is popular with collectors seeking a single coin from this historic branch mint. Examples are obtainable with relative ease in circulated grades and, while scarce in Mint State, enough coins are extant at lower Uncirculated levels that the persistent buyer should have little difficulty acquiring an MS-60 or MS-61.
