History, Information, and Value of 1935 Peace Dollar

Value of 1935 Peace Silver Dollar

This issue from Philadelphia is considered a fairly common date. Coins came on the market slowly and over a long period of time, with many coins stored in bank vaults. The 1935 Peace dollar can readily be found in Uncirculated condition. Strike and luster quality varies greatly, so collectors are urged to choose carefully and be selective. Well-struck examples with a good luster are always in strong demand.
1935 Peace Dollars Are Common In Circulated Condition: This is another date that is seldom encountered in bulk lots of Peace dollars. If you desire an EF or AU example you should be able to find one with no great effort.
Thanks To Bank Hoards, High Grade 1935 $1 Coins Are Common: From MS-60 to MS-67, this date is readily available. MS-63 and MS-64 coins are relatively inexpensive. MS-65 coins are found in large enough numbers that you probably can afford one. Just remember the three rules for this series: strike, luster, and eye appeal.

The obverse text on the Peace Dollar reads “Liberty; In God We Trvst (Trust); 1935.” The reverse text on the silver dollar reads “United States of America; E Pluribus Unum; One Dollar; Peace.” The obverse of the coin has a bust of a female facing the left with a pointed crown and flowing hair. The reverse of the Peace Dollar has an eagle sitting on a rock in the center with rays in the background.
