Value of Glenna Goodacre 2000-P Sacagawea Coin

For the modern dollar specialist, the 2000-P Glenna Goodacre Sacagawea dollar should be of interest. Goodacre was a sculpture from New Mexico. It was her design that was used on the reverse of the Sacagawea gold dollars. As a reward, she was to receive $5,000. However, in a surprise, the mint delivered 5,000 2000-P gold dollars to her. The majority of the coins had a special burnished finish to them. Today, virtually all of the coins have been certified by either ICG, PCGS, or NGC. The fact that they are Glenacre variety coins is expressly detailed on the grading holder. So if the holder doesn’t say Glenacre, then you don’t have a Glenacre coin. While a known population of close to 5,000 coins really isn’t rare, these are a specialty variety and they do sell for a few hundred dollars each.
