The 2001 $1 Silver Capitol Visitor Commemorative Coin was issued to represent the 200th anniversary of Congress’ first meeting in the Capitol. The coin was designed by Elizabeth Jones with a maximum mintage of 500,000. On the obverse is an image of the Capitol building and on the reverse is an eagle with a shield. This coin was minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
