History, Information, and Value of 1907 Gold Liberty Double Eagle

Value of 1907 $20 Double Eagle

Apart from isolated softness of detail in and around the central obverse seen in a small percentage of survivors, the 1907 double eagle as an issue is sharply struck. Most examples show numerous abrasions, although eye appeal is usually above average in Mint State due to the excellent satin or frosty luster that many such pieces exhibit. One of the most common Liberty Head double eagles, the 1907 is easy to acquire in grades through MS-64. Gems are rare, however, with the finest certified a solitary MS-65+ known to PCGS. The final Proof Liberty Head double eagle, the 1907 has a surviving population of no more than 60 coins.
